With or without Rockstar, sandbox games would not be the same.
Some companies have made some great games over the years. Some stay in business for a long time, while others unfortunately shut down. Rocky, on the other hand, has been one of the most reliable. The company has been around since 1998 and has since made some groundbreaking games, including series that are now considered to be some of the best ever.
Not every Rockstar game has been a big hit, but most of them have done pretty well. Even though some of these games are older, you can still play them on newer consoles like the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.

ToggleThe Warriors
Many people may not know that Rockstar made this video game. The Warriors is often forgotten when people list their favorite and least favorite Rockstar games. Making a computer game based on this movie may have been risky, but Rockstar proved that it was possible to do it right.
Since it stays true to the popular movie and has great fighting and scenes that are well done, this game has stood the test of time and is still popular today.
Manhunt
On the surface, this looks like a lot of fun. Manhunt caused some debate because it was so gross, letting you choke people with barbed wire or suffocate them with plastic bags. It was Rockstar’s first attempt at a spy game, and the idea behind it was that you were in a huge maze and had to desperately stay alive while being chased by different kinds of animals.
From the beginning to the end, the game keeps you on the edge of your seat. The dark horror style isn’t for everyone, but those who don’t mind the violence will have a great time. This game was made for the PS2, but it works on Xbox Series X|S and is also a PS2 Classic on PS4/5.
Max Payne 3
A lot of people liked the Max Payne series, and Rockstar took over for the third game. This game was brave because it didn’t follow the ending of the second one. Instead, it had a completely different idea and goal. Instead, it focused on Max’s time as a private security guard in Brazil, where he made everyone he came across miserable. Great shootouts happen in this game, which also has beautiful pictures to back it up.
It might not be the first game that comes to mind when someone hears the name Rockstar, but every gamer should play it at least once. You can’t play it on newer PlayStations, but you can on the Xbox Series X|S. It’s a great action game for that system.
Grand Theft Auto 3
It’s one of the most important games ever that the first GTA game was made in 3D. Grand Theft Auto 3 is a great video game that will go down in history as one of the best, and not just in the Rockstar world. This game changed the way games were played forever and paved the way for all future 3D open-world games. Some amazing video games were based on Grand Theft Auto III, and it’s a lot of fun to explore this wicked world.
As soon as you get out of the back of the prison truck, you have to work your way up the criminal hierarchy, whether that means killing people or moving illegal goods. That’s not counting any crazy things you do on your own.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is almost better than GTA3. It has a better story and a little more edge. The setting for Vice City is also one of the best ever made for a video game. It’s not a bad thing that you gain power more slowly in Vice City than in other GTA games. I like it better when things are built up slowly, because it makes the game more fun.
The game’s bright and lively atmosphere means it never gets old, and Vice City also has one of the best songs in video game history.
Grand Theft Auto 4
Today, GTA4 is still one of the best games ever reviewed by Metacritic. It mostly sets the bar for Rockstar games. The open-world concept and gameplay are great, and it’s clear why Rockstar makes the best open-world games. The story is also surprisingly good. It was the first Rockstar game to look at the American Dream theme, and it’s still the best one.
The old parts of this game are what keep it in third place in the series. These days, it’s so hard to handle the car, and the graphics aren’t even good for 2008. The main reason for this is the very dull color scheme. It’s true that Saint’s Row 2 looks better since it came out later that year. When you add GTA Online and the two great DLC packs, the quality of GTA4 is still through the roof.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Because it was so far ahead of its time, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the second-best GTA game. It took the open-world genre to a whole new level long before games like Skyrim. It was a tribute to the hugely famous gang movies of the 1990s. The game followed CJ as he returned after his mother died and met up with his old gang, The Grove Street Families.
The story turned out to be one of the best in GTA history, but it was exploring that really made the game famous, with versions of LA, Vegas, and San Francisco giving players a lot to do.
Red Dead Redemption
Even though it came out in 2010, a lot of people still say this is the best Rockstar game. It’s easy to see why, since Red Dead Redemption is still a great game. Rockstar made one of the best plots ever for a video game by making John Marston the hero who has to fix a bad past. This has helped the game become a cult favorite among gamers all over the world.
With a huge map to search and explore, Rockstar did everything they could to make this feel as thorough as possible. It was the perfect way to capture the spirit of the Old West in a game that became popular and interesting.
Bully
First glance, the thought of making a video game about school seems like a crazy idea. Bully, on the other hand, was made by Rockstar and is one of the best games of all time. A lot of people said it felt like Drift Boss, but with school as the setting. This made it less violent and easier for people to relate to. Bully is very cute, and his weapons are marble and stink bombs. The story is also very interesting and funny.
Rockstar took a risk by making Bully, but the fact that people are still asking for a sequel shows that it was a risk that paid off. It shows that the company could make games other than violent and gritty titles. These days, you can play Bully on both new Xbox and PlayStation platforms.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 was a huge hit for Rockstar, and rightly so. The huge map was fun to explore, the graphics were stunning, and the story was amazing. Anyone can enjoy this game; the world is so big and complicated that there is something to do for hours on end. But the story was what made this one stand out from the others.
Even though this is a prequel to the first game, the story is still great as you move through the world in this long but great title.
Grand Theft Auto 5
Many people might have put Red Dead Redemption or its follow-up ahead of this, but Grand Theft Auto 5 is an amazing achievement that can’t be missed. It combines an amazing open-world experience with what is probably Rockstar’s best plot ever. It is a huge accomplishment that all three stories are character-specific but still connect. Rockstar has taken the GTA series to a whole new level with this game.
The better GTA online mode added a whole new element to the game that made it even more fun. This game has one of the most colorful open world maps and thousands of lines of conversation. It has everything a game should have.
