These are the old PC games that should be made again.
Spacewar was made by a group of MIT students led by Steve Russell in 1962. It is known as the first PC game. After that, PC games really took off, and first-person shooters like Doom and Quake made it big in the 1990s. But the images in those games from ten years ago don’t work as well now.
The point of remakes is to bring old games up to date. While both are similar, remasters make the resolution better on the newest device without changing much else. Remakes, on the other hand, build on the idea of the original while adding new gameplay. Some old PC games have already been redone, but not all of them have been given the attention they deserve yet.

ToggleLeft 4 Dead
There were only a few games in the Left 4 Dead series, but they were all great. The first Left 4 Dead game came out in 2008, and the second one came out in 2009. Fans really want a Left 4 Dead 3, but the company that made it, Valve, hasn’t released one yet because they’re putting their time and energy into VR goods and other projects.
Before The Last of Us, Left 4 Dead was the first survival horror game. When there is a pandemic, four survivors fight their way through hordes of zombies to get to safe places in this first-person shooter. Another great co-op game that makes you want to protect and fight with your friends is Left 4 Dead.
F1 Challenge ’99-‘02
F1 has gained more fans than ever before in the past five years. But Visual Science made F1 Career Challenge (F1C), which is also known as F1 Challenge ’99–’02 on Microsoft Windows, in 2003, before it became very popular. The driving game is based on cars and tracks from the seasons of 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002, as the name suggests.
EA Sports has put out F1 2021 and F1 22 since FC1. To respect F1’s history and bring back memories of earlier seasons, fans might enjoy a remake of EA’s original F1 game.
Myth: The Fallen Lords
The Fallen Lords, the first game in the Myth series, is a great real-time strategy game. People were really excited about this game because, unlike other strategy games, you don’t have to build a base or grow and handle your own resources. Instead, you can pick a unit that has its own size, strengths, and weaknesses, and then lead your forces in either single-player or multiplayer game.
This 1997 strategy game, The Fallen Lords, made Bungie famous (they went on to make Halo), and it was a turning point for real-time strategy games. It’s too bad that it hasn’t been updated for current players.
Thief: The Dark Project
Thief: The Dark Project came out in 1998 as a first-person stealth game. Later, in the Gold version, more missions were added. You can get Thief Gold on Steam. There are now four games in the Thief series. But there have been no changes to the first game in more than twenty years.
From the point of view of a first-person shooter at the time, The Dark Project was different because tasks told you to kill enemies quietly instead of rushing into loud, fast-paced action.
Fallout
The first Fallout game, Wasteland, came out in 1988 and set the stage for Interplay’s first Fallout game. Bethesda now owns the Fallout series, but Fallout, which came out in 1997 and was only available on PC, is known for creating the famous post-apocalyptic world.
If Fallout were made again, its original turn-based system might appeal to RPG fans. On the other hand, a remake with real-time combat would bring the open world to life and add FPS features to the RPG that is mostly about quests and exploration.
The Operative: No One Lives Forever
No One Lives Forever (NOLF), which was made by Monolith, is a lost gem. I think NOLF was one of the best first-person shooters of 2000. It was also a creative project with a female star. Cate Archer plays a spy in a world that looks like a mix of James Bond and Austin Powers from the 1960s. You can ride a sled, use spy gear, and pick locks with a barrette in Doodle Baseball.
No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.’s Way and Contract are the follow-ups. J.A.C.K. released a follow-up to the first game, but it didn’t get as much praise as the first game.
Unfortunately, a remake of NOLF can’t happen right now because of legal fights over the rights. Put your best lawyers on the case of Cate Archer.
F.E.A.R.
F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon), which was based on Japanese horror movies, was probably the scariest game of its time. F.E.A.R. doesn’t use a lot of jump scares. Instead, it uses shadows and the character Alma Wade to scare you. Alma Wade often shows up as a ghostly young girl before a violent scene or before radio static that warns of danger and destruction.
This psychological horror game can also be played as a first-person shooter. In close battle, you can use up to five different weapons at once. You are a new member of F.E.A.R. and your job is to kill a psychic agent. Your character has amazing skills that let them slow down time when they need to. A new version of F.E.A.R. would be a scary game with up-to-date graphics and action.
Diablo
Diablo (1997) is the first game in a long-running cult classic series, like many of the other games on this list. Hellfire, an unofficial add-on for Diablo, came out the same year the game did, but the graphics and features are now very old. The cave crawling in the first game, on the other hand, should be kept.
Diablo 2 was updated when Diablo 2: Resurrected was made, so hoping for a new Diablo game can’t be a bad thing.
Grand Theft Auto (GTA 1)
Do you remember the first Grand Theft Auto? Rockstar Games has added to the Grand Theft Auto series since 1997. Rockstar finally fixed up Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in 2021. These games were released as Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definite Edition. But bad reviews said the trilogy had bugs, which made Rockstar say sorry for how badly the game started.
There is a chance that a 3D remake of GTA 1 with an aerial view could honor the series’ history while also letting the makers add new gameplay and improve the story and music from the original game. That’s not all. Rockstar could also work on remakes of Vice City and San Andreas that are better.
Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2 is one of the best and most important PC games of all time. It was made by the same people who made Left 4 Dead. The 2004 sequel went further than its original Half-Life by adding physics-based puzzles and vehicles that could be driven. Half-Life 2 is a great first-person shooter because of its gameplay, sci-fi setting, and unique story told from the main character’s point of view.
At the time, the images were cutting edge, but PC games today have better graphics and gameplay built on Half-Life 2. This game’s creator, Valve, doesn’t seem to have any plans to create a sequel or remake. However, fans have made a VR Mod that makes the original game work with VR headsets.
Fans are still going strong after almost twenty years, which shows how much Half-Life 2 deserves a good version.
