In RPGs, magical abilities are popular, but these games have some of the most unique magical systems.
RPGs are known for having a lot of different ways to fight, and the best ones let players fight in completely different ways during each run. From the Middle Ages to the Present Day and sometimes even into the Future, this means that players will be able to use special skills in battle.
In many role-playing games, magic systems are very important and give players a lot of great ways to progress through the game. In many RPGs, magical systems aren’t the most important part of battle, but in some games, it’s well worth the time to learn how to use them.

ToggleSkyrim
There are a lot of great ways to play in the latest Elder Scrolls game, including a lot of different magical schools that players can learn on their own. However, the builds that come with it aren’t usually the most powerful.
For example, players can choose to only learn destruction magic and attack their enemies with fire and lightning. Skyrim‘s unique ideas, on the other hand, come from other schools. For example, characters can use magic swords to fight or change spells that can change the world around them and either scare or charm enemies away.
Divinity: Original Sin 2
Fans almost immediately called Divinity: Original Sin 2 one of the best RPGs ever, so it’s not a wonder that it makes it onto a list of the best magical systems, even though the combat isn’t called magic in the game itself.
The skills are what the powers are called, and they can be used by any class in the game. This is very different from how most RPGs build their character classes. In Divinity, players have to get used to the different kinds of magical damage that can be done.
Dragon Age Origins
Dragon Age Origins deserves a lot of praise for doing something that has been thought of in fantasy for a long time but has rarely been done so well in games. Players of only one class type could use magical skills that were really cool.
Mage characters in Dragon Age Origins can change into different animals using magic, similar to how druids use magic in Dungeons & Dragons. This amazing type of magic works really well and made witches one of the most sought-after classes in the game. Hopefully, this blood magic will be explored more in future games in the series.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3 is another great RPG with lots of different ways to fight. When playing as Geralt of Rivia, the game forces players to use all of their different fighting styles more. Users could get by without the signs, like the Aard sign, that make Geralt’s strange Witcher magic work, but it would be better if they used them often in battle.
But the signs aren’t as magical as those in other games. Instead, they let players mix up their fighting styles, which is something that not many RPGs do as well as The Witcher 3.
Octopath Traveler
A JRPG where players can follow the stories of eight different people in Orsterra and try to stop the child of a bad god from bringing her back to life on the world she helped make and wanted to rule. A very interesting story that players can see through a lot of different lenses.
But not all of the characters in Octopath Traveler can use magic. Even though the classes are very different, the magic that can be used with characters focused on that way is unlike anything else in the game. It’s a very memorable experience.
Pillars Of Eternity
Pillars of Eternity had one of the most complex magical systems of any game released in the last ten years. It had a lot of different classes that could use magic. There are two types of people: Chanters and Priests. Chanters can make magic by stringing together different words.
What’s so interesting about priests is that their powers work in a very D&D-like way. Their abilities and spells depend on which God they follow, and their powers don’t work as well if their morals don’t match up with their religious beliefs. This is one of the best magic systems in video games.
Hogwarts Legacy
The full immersion into the world of Harry Potter in Hogwarts Legacy is one of the best and most unique magic systems in video games. This game really showed players what it would be like to fight and live as a Hogwarts student.
The whole process of making a fantastic Hogwarts world with magical animals, broomsticks, and more was a great gaming experience. The impressive way that combat was handled throughout the game, though, is one of the most shocking things about it. The magical combat was always interesting and felt very smooth.
Magicka 2
One of the best ways to make something unique is to keep it simple. Magika 2 does this very well by giving players eight different kinds of magical powers that can be used in different ways depending on how they are combined.
Geometry Dash Subzero is a great example of a game that greatly simplifies the rules of magic and how it works. However, it still manages to create something amazing because players can creatively add something new to their style of play as they continue to explore the system’s limits. It is also a game that will break up your friendships.
Elden Ring
When people play Elder Ring, the magical systems are not the first thing that come to mind. Instead, they will think about using huge tools against even bigger enemies. But there is something really amazing about how different the magic is in this game.
A hundred different spells can be cast with the Elden Ring. Mage builds are one of the less popular but most unique ways to play the game, and anyone who has played the Soulsborne games will find them interesting.
Final Fantasy 7
For many reasons, Final Fantasy 7 is considered one of the best games of all time. It gave players a lot of different spells they could use to cast magic and help their friends.
Besides that, it let them add support material to the normal formula to give it an extra boost.
One thing that fans still love about Final Fantasy 7 is how this made it possible for players to come up with their own unique ways to attack and help.
